Phat Ribs |
I was first introduced to the "phat" rib by Ronan Peterson in a class at Claymakers Studio in Durham, North Carolina. Ronan credits his rib to a class at Penland taught by Mackenzie Smith. These wonderful ribs are very helpful to emerging potters as you work to create larger pots, particularly bowls. Since I have some wood working skills, I soon was making these phat ribs for local potters. I currently make two styles, oval and oblong (see photos below), but will consider any shape needed. To purchase, click on the contact info button and tell me what you need. Each rib is made of hardwood (cherry or maple) and sells for $12 (shipping included in the price). They are 3/4 inch to 1 inch thick. Ribs are also available at Claymakers Pottery Studio in Durham, NC. |
